One of five children, Dr. Davis was born and raised in Davenport, Iowa, where he spent his summers swimming in the Mississippi and riding bicycles, go-carts and toboggans down steep hills around the Quad Cities. When Dr. Davis was eight or nine years old, he rammed his hip into a pole while sledding down a hill at Duck Creek Park. His dad carried him to the car where he layed in the back seat while the other kids continued to have fun. At home and still unable to walk, a medical doctor was called to the house for his medical advice; he stated that he could give Jim some medication, but probably would not help him regain his ability to walk. A second opinion came from Dr Cartwright, a Chiropractor near his home. The Doctor stated that a Chiropractic adjustment would probably help; that the adjustment would take pressure off the nerves which were being compressed by the spinal bones and hip bones that were pushed out of position as a result of ramming into the pole; in other words- the bones were pinching several nerves in his hip and low back. Dr Davis got his first adjustment at Dr. Cartwright`s office on 12th Street in East Davenport, Iowa; he was able to slowly regain his ability to walk again over the following several days. That was not a miracle; that is just how the body resumes its normal functioning: take the pressure off of the nerve; life at the end of the nerve resumes its normal functions.

Let's make some adjustments in our city and resume some form of normal functioning by removing the unwanted pressures of gangs and violence. Let's get more businesses moving into Davenport to boost our economy and allow the Energy of Davenport to flow again! More jobs that pay more than minimum wage would help boost the morale and stimulate sales in our area.

After graduating from Assumption High School and St. Ambrose College, Dr Davis worked at John Deere where he met his wife Rhonda. Dr Davis sold real estate for a time before settling in to pursue his true calling by attending Palmer College of Chiropractic in 1981. He graduated from Palmer College in 1984, obtained his Chiropractic License to practice in Iowa and Illinois. Dr Davis practiced in Davenport and had an office in Dubuque, Iowa. His love for the Quad Cities brought him back to practice Chiropractic totally in the Quad City area. He and Rhonda live in Davenport with their son Patrick, twin daughters- Meghan and Elizabeth. In his spare time, Dr. Davis sails on the Mississippi River; he enjoys flying small airplanes, rides his 21-speed bike and tends to the garden (somewhat). Link to www.LDSC.org for sailing info and www.erieairpark.com for flying. Real Time Cam for the gardening is being considered.

Indoor and outdoor recreations benefit all of us by stimulating our nervous system to become more alert and productive. There is an increase in oxygen and blood flow to all of the cells and organs of our body; the result is better health in more areas than just our bodies; it also helps in our relationships, our families, our jobs, in the schools and more. Davenport has these activities available to us in the form of athletic club and parks and all of their amenities, the Mississippi River and what it has to offer - bike and walk paths, canoeing, cruising, sailing and fishing ... and, coming soon - safer streets and neighborhoods to walk in.  Vote Doc Davis For Mayor.

And now, a word from my office:

Give Chiropractic a try!!! Find out why so many are turning to drugless care (as Dr Davis did when he was just a wee lad); and ... ALWAYS get a second and even a third opinion before being committed to a permanent course of action; one of those opinions needs to be a Chiropractor, a doctor who by choice limits his or her practice of health care to helping people without resorting to surgery and dispersing of drugs (again see www.iatrogenic.org.).

We hope you regain your health through whatever path you choose.    -   Doc
